today pastor barry phipps preached a message in which he said, “others judge us by our actions, we judge ourselves by our intentions.” this really got me thinking.
sometimes others misinterpret our actions when they don’t know our intentions. there are also times that people project their own intentions onto the actions of others (they assume that because they would respond one way in a situation that others would do the same).
some of the most hurtful things said or done to me have been a result of this. when there are people close to you (who you feel should know the intentions of your heart) assume the worst from your actions, it can sting and cause you to ask “do they know me at all?”.
i think God is showing me that it’s so important to put Him first, seek His approval and no other. we will never please everyone, and in trying we may lose who we are and who God wants us to be.

This is a pretty profound truth – one that God has been working in me for a long time. I’m impressed to see your sensitivity and willingness to ensure His voice takes priority. It’s not easy – in the ministry or the world. However, HE IS FAITHFUL. Amen!
